Horizontal extrusion is a traditional extrusion method. The machine lies horizontally, placing heated metal into a fixed cylinder. A piston-like mechanism then pushes the metal out, gradually forming the desired shape. While horizontal extrusion can produce a variety of profiles, it operates in an intermittent mode, meaning the process must be restarted after each product is produced. Overall production efficiency is relatively low, making it more suitable for applications with lower production requirements.
Continuous Extrusion Machine is like a non-stop "metal noodle machine." The metal is continuously fed into the extruder(without heating). Through powerful rotation and frictional pressure, the extruder simultaneously produces finished products, capable of operating non-stop for hours or even days. This method offers high production efficiency, low waste, and the ability to produce extremely long and stable runs.
So what is the difference between horizontal extrusion and continuous extrusion?
Horizontal extrusion produces pipes one by one by pushing them;
Continuous Extrusion Machine extrusion produces pipes in a continuous stream.
The difference between the two lies primarily in their production efficiency and application scenarios. If your factory produces small quantities of custom products or large, thick-walled pipes, then I think horizontal extrusion is more suitable. However, if your factory produces large-volume, long-length products such as copper strip, aluminum bar, and cable conductors, then we recommend the metal extrusion machine process.
